Preston UIDs

Donaldson Associates has recently been appointed by KMI's designer, GHA Livigunn, to complete the detailed design of the Preston UID scheme.

The project will prevent uncontrolled discharge from seven unsatisfactory intermittent discharges (UIDs) from the existing combined sewer network to the River Ribble.

This will be achieved by constructing :

• 1500mm diameter tunnelled connections to a 2440mm diameter interceptor tunnel (1.1km long)
• 3050mm  diameter storage tunnel (2.34km long) to transfer flows to Preston Wastewater Treatment Works (WwTW)
• twin rising mains
